Hey Star Troopers! There has been an increase in interest in exploring spirituality and finding what path is right for everyone on an individual level. Today I want to speak about Ancestor Altars. With Jupiter in Pisces spirituality is a major theme for us all. Now with everything, my default answer to any spiritual question is, to follow your intuition. Your spiritual team is in constant communication with you, but you have to take time to slow down and listen to the messages and open your eyes to the signs they send you. Everyone’s messages come in differently. With that being said let’s get into Ancestor Altars.
Ancestor Altars are a designated space for you to communicate and venerate the benevolent ancestors in your bloodline. It is important when you set up the altar that you call in the benevolent spirits in your spiritual team. The point of the altar is to elevate and increase abundance in all areas of your life and that can only be done with benevolent energy. The altar not only aids in lifting your vibration but also, opens up communication with your spiritual team, helps you elevate spiritually and personally, helps you begin addressing generational curses in your bloodline.
Simple Ancestor Altar set up
1. Table, surface, or shelf-
It is extremely important that any space you create for your ancestors is only used for your ancestors. I personally use a wooden bookcase for my Ancestor altar. It is also important to have your altar in a place that does not have a lot of traffic around it. It is best to have it in a space or room that is not accessible to several people. However please utilize the space you do have. Many have issues with placing your altar in your bedroom but if you share space that is the best option for your altar. Your Ancestors understand your circumstances, strengthening your relationship with them is most important. Don’t hold yourself back by overthinking.
2. White cloth-
Place a white cloth down on the area you have assigned for your Ancestors. The white cloth is used to bring in the energy of benevolent spirits, purification, protection, and receptivity. White is used to also show cleanliness and raise the vibration of the area. It’s a clean slate, a starting point for building your relationship with your Ancestors.
3. Glass for water-
Water is a conduit for energy. It is a portal for Spirit. Your Ancestors use the water as a portal to your altar. It is important to have the water there to activate and increase communication from your spiritual team. Water is also a form of yin energy. Yin energy attracts and creates receptivity. The glass of water makes your altar space receptive to communication from your team and attracts your Ancestor to your altar.
4. White glass candle-
White as explained above is used to open communication, raise the vibration, and welcome in Ancestral communication. The candle uses the fire element to light the way for your Ancestors. With keeping your altar up and communicating with your Ancestors, you will notice after a while that the flame of your candle will show you the presence of your Ancestors.
5. Food offerings
Food offerings may be the most controversial part of the Ancestor altar. Fresh food will be your best bet. Fresh food such as vegetables, fruit, and healthy cooked meals are your best options. Many believe because your ancestors are only spirits that they can be fed anything. When in actuality feeding them healthy fresh foods help elevate their energy. You and your ancestors should be eating as fresh and healthy as possible to elevate your vibrations.
